Cary Bowman

Cary Bowman is an entrepreneur and builder whose career spans investment banking, consumer brands, and emerging technology. He is best known as the co-founder of Lucky Bastard Distillers, one of the first craft distilleries in Saskatchewan, which he helped grow from idea to nationally recognized brand producing hundreds of thousands of liters annually.

Bowman’s path has been anything but linear. He began with a degree in archaeology before pivoting into finance, where he built a successful career in wealth management at the Bank of Nova Scotia, working closely with high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurs. That exposure sparked a shift in perspective—from measuring success through income and status to wanting to build something of his own.
Inspired by the idea of reclaiming time and ownership, Bowman left the traditional corporate path to pursue entrepreneurship. Together with his wife and business partner, he launched Lucky Bastard Distillers after discovering the craft distillery movement and recognizing an untapped opportunity in Canada. What started as a curiosity quickly became a full-scale business—built not just for growth, but intentionally designed to support a flexible, self-directed lifestyle.

A defining element of Bowman’s approach is his philosophy around time, trust, and control. Rather than building a company that consumes his life, he structured his businesses to enable autonomy—relying on strong teams, distributed leadership, and a willingness to trade maximum financial upside for personal freedom and family time.

More recently, Bowman has turned his attention to technology and AI, building new ventures despite having no formal technical background. By leveraging emerging tools like AI-assisted development, he and his team have created products ranging from design-focused machine learning platforms to niche applications built for personal use and broader distribution.

At the core of his journey is a consistent theme: success is personal. Bowman believes fulfillment comes not from external validation, but from designing a life aligned with one’s own values—prioritizing curiosity, family, creativity, and the freedom to choose how time is spent.
