Al Lindsay spent nearly three decades in tech, including leading the 1,000+ person team that built Alexa from a concept into a product used by hundreds of millions of people. At the peak of that success, he made the unexpected decision to walk away.
He left in an ambulance. The hidden cost of "always-on" leadership—the holidays interrupted, the constant pressure, the personal energy depleted—finally made the decision for him. What followed was an unexpected struggle: "doing nothing" wasn't as fulfilling as it sounded. He missed the team, the challenge, and the meaningful impact.
Al has since redesigned his life around deep work over context-switching, family, learning, and helping others succeed. His north star today is contributing to something meaningful—on his own terms.
